CUNY TV is launching ‘Nueva York Digital Studio’ to provide more visibility to the artistic and social lives of the Latino community in the Big Apple. Nueva York Digital Studio will be presented in different platforms: broadcast, social media and online.
Created in 2005, CUNY TV's series Nueva York (www.cuny.tv/nuevayork) showcases the impact and contributions of Latinos in New York City. Since its inception, the show has been earned 12 Emmys Awards, the most prestigious recognition of excellence in the American television industry.
In the doc-fiction series ‘I am a dreamer’, We see the experience of young latinos (Maury, Ash, Nivia and Zulu) living in NYC, we go into their lives, their dreams and their struggles in this city. Ash Gonzales, who is a dreamer, talks about how the decision of the current U.S administration to end the Deferred Action for Chilhood Arrivals program (DACA) affects him and how he’s dealing with it. Through fast-paced images and heartfelt stories we hope to inspire our audience to be socially active and also that the organizations that are working on behalf of the thousands of undocumented immigrants use ‘I am a dreamer’ as a tool to reach more people and engage them in social change.
