Justice for Sandra Bland and all Black Women

Equality for Flatbush : E4F and Peoples Power Assemblies

Date: Jul 13th

Join People’s Power Assembly NYC and Equality for Flatbush to honor Sandra Bland and all Black women and girls brutalized and killed by state violence. We will uplift Black women and girls. We call on everyone to “Say Her Name!”

July 13 marks the three-year anniversary of Sandra Bland’s death. She was found hanging in a jail cell in Waller County, Texas, three days after being violently arrested for an alleged traffic violation. Sandra Bland was an outspoken supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement and her death at the hands of the police sparked a national outcry. In 2016, Bland’s family reached a settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit against the Waller County jail and police department for $1.9 million. No police officer has been convicted in connection to Sandra Bland’s death.

We must continue to highlight the many Black women—among them numerous trans women—who are killed and brutalized by the police on the street, in jails, in prisons. "Black women have never been spared the brutality of white supremacy.” We fight against racism, sexism, ableism, and class oppression. Crush the white supremacist state.

Join PPA every Wednesday as we demand justice for all! 7 to 9 p.m. at 147 West 24th Street, 2nd Floor. (212)633-6646 peoplesPower.net.
