Black Mental Health & Healing Justice - Peer Support Training

BEAM's Black Mental Health & Healing Justice training is a mental health literacy and healing justice peer support training for people working, living in and supporting Black communities. The training equips participants with

(1) Basic knowledge of mental health issues within social, historical and political context

(2) Tools to dismantle and challenge mental health stigma and myths in Black communities,

(3) First responder strategies for psychological distress.

By the end of this training participants will be able to:

Name and accurately identify common mental health challenges in Black communities.

Name and identify the history and legacy of Healing Justice

Challenge and provide accurate information on common myths related to medication, psychology and mental health in Black communities.

Apply and provide peer support through a healing justice framework.

Identify and map out resources for mental health in their own communities.

**This training is held in an ADA accessible space.
