For the first time ever, all non-NYC/Upstate NY Chapters of VOCAL-NY are convening for a unified Town Hall and you are invited!
Join us on Wednesday, July 15th @ 5:30 PM for a virtual town hall on Defunding Police and Investing in Communities as we collectively re-envision what true community safety looks like from Albany/Capital Region to Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Westchester, and beyond! In the midst of a national uprising, cities and counties throughout the country are using this opportunity to reassess their budgets. Our communities deserve to be a part of the decision-making process! Join us as we talk about divesting money from racist law enforcement who don't keep us safe into services that we know to be much more helpful in providing community safety and well-being: healthcare, harm reduction, social services, mental health resources, and other community resources we need and deserve.
Come hear from directly impacted individuals about what divestment from ineffective, racist, & militarized forces into community needs can mean for the wellness of our communities. We know these changes will only happen through a thoughtful, deliberate, participatory process. Join us as we collectively re-envision what racial and socioeconomic justice, equity, and TRUE community safety can look like for ALL of New York State.
