In the new book Arthur Miller: American Witness from Yale’s Jewish Lives series, distinguished theater critic John Lahr brings a unique perspective to the life of Arthur Miller, the playwright who almost singlehandedly brought twentieth-century American theater to a new level of cultural sophistication. Organized around the fault lines of Miller’s life and concentrating largely on his most prolific decades of the 1940s through the 1960s, Lahr provides an original interpretation of Miller’s work, personality, and legacy. Lahr will be in conversation with award-winning playwright John Guare.
