NYC Bus to Freedom to Be Monument in DC!

Join NYCLU, ACLU DC, World Pride, and Gender Liberation Movement to attend the Freedom to Be Monument installation on Saturday, May 17, 2025 in Washington, D.C. Trans lives are here to stay, and we are thrilled to kick off World Pride with this historic unveiling and celebration of trans resilience, joy, and liberation.



If you need transportation to the event and would like to ride with us by bus to Washington, D.C, please RSVP so we can reserve your seat. The bus will depart from NYC at approximately 4:00 AM on May 17. After the event concludes, it will depart Washington, D.C. around 5:00 PM for the return trip to NYC.

The installation will be on view from 10:00 AM–5:00 PM, with a rally and celebration from 12:30–2:00 PM in Washington, D.C.

What to Expect:

• An installation consisting of 258 unique 6ft x 6ft panels, created by hundreds of trans folks and allies across the country


• A rally featuring speakers, special guests, and community leaders


• Live music and DJ sets


• Interactive activations, where you'll have the opportunity to create your own mini panels


• Corporate partner giveaways and other surprises


• An interactive webpage with more information about the artists who created each panel
