Bushwick and Williamsburg have always been shaped by people who organized, resisted displacement, and fought for dignity. Join us for a conversation on the neighborhoods’ histories. From migration to redlining, housing struggles, and today’s fights for working-class communities, we’ll feature leaders and organizers who’ve been part of that story. This conversation traces the neighborhoods’ Puerto Rican and immigrant roots, housing battles, cultural movements, and bucking the political establishment that exploited them. We’ll ask what those histories can teach us about the future we’re building now.
