Hudson River Park is allowing ICE to park vehicles at the Pier 40 parking garage, through a $797,358 contract that–after community pressure–the park has said it will not renew when it expires in June 2026.
But Hudson River Park’s collaboration with ICE needs to stop now. The NYC-DSA Immigrant Justice Working Group (IJWG) is joining the fight to get the Hudson River Park Trust to immediately terminate its parking contract with DHS.
Spring is coming. Thousands of kids and families will soon play soccer, baseball, and enjoy the park at Pier 40. Meanwhile, Hudson River Park is providing a “safe haven” there for ICE vehicles to operate out of. This cannot continue.
Join NYC-DSA and Chelsea Neighbors United on Tuesday, March 17th to demand an immediate termination of the contract. We will hold a rally at 6pm outside of the Hudson River Park Trust’s Advisory Council meeting at the Pier 57 Discovery Tank. The exact meet-up location will be emailed to people who RSVP.
