On Tue. March 17, over a hundred Chelsea neighbors and NYC-DSA members interrupted the Hudson River Park Advisory Council, telling the park to immediately cancel their parking contract with ICE.
Our pressure is working. After months of trying to slow walk the issue, the park finally admitted that they don’t plan to cancel ICE’s contract, saying they have “already taken action on this issue by committing to not renew the contract” in July.
“Taking action” by laying low and profiting off ICE’s campaign of terror for the next four months is unacceptable cowardice. Should immigrant New Yorkers “lay low” as well? Hudson River Park must cancel the contract now, and begin to address its complicity in collaborating with ICE over the last two decades, taking $797,358 of ICE’s dirty money in the last four years alone.
Join us at Pier 57 on Thursday, March 26 from 4:30-5:30pm to tell the board of the Hudson River Park Trust–the group empowered to revoke ICE’s parking contract–that silence is complicity. Revoke the contract now!
RSVP now to receive the meet-up spot of the protest and more info to get ready.
