Cuba is currently under a devastating economic embargo intensified by the Trump administration. The United States, intent on destabilizing a sovereign country, has been starving Cuba economically since the 1960s and the current ratcheting up of sanctions has plunged the country into deeper crisis. Join us for a night of short films and a talkback from NYC-DSA members who joined the recent Nuestra America convoy to Cuba. We'll show two shorts on feminism and city culture in post-revolutionary Cuba by director Sara Gómez and contemporary shorts from the independent Cuban news organization Belly of the Beast. All proceeds will benefit La Red Afro-Cubana de Personas Trans, an LGBTQ Solidarity group in Cuba. This screening is part of a series of anti-imperialist films and fundraisers in April and May with the NYC-DSA Anti-War Working Group. Stay tuned for more!
