Join Staten Island DSA for our upcoming meeting as we come together to connect, organize, and build power locally. We’ll kick things off with relational introductions and a land acknowledgment before diving into several important updates and discussions.
We’ll share exciting news from the labor front: the National Labor Relations Board has ruled that Amazon must negotiate with the ALU-IBT. This is a major win for workers fighting for fair wages, safe conditions, and a real voice on the job. Local members have been supporting this fight, and we’ll talk about how to deepen our solidarity and strengthen rank-and-file organizing here on Staten Island.
We’ll also be gearing up for Pride Fest on May 30th! This is a great opportunity to celebrate LGBTQIA+ communities while connecting with neighbors and sharing our work. We’re looking for volunteers to staff our table, distribute materials, and help represent SIDSA. Please sign up early if you’d like to participate!
Finally, we’ll continue our discussion on taxing the rich, focusing on the political landscape surrounding efforts to address NYC’s budget deficit. We’ll explore the challenges facing proposals to increase taxes on the wealthiest New Yorkers and what it means for funding public services and advancing economic justice.
Whether you’re a longtime member or new to DSA, we hope to see you there!
