Cuba: An African Odyssey screening

Join NYC-DSA AWWG and the International Committee Stop the Siege on Cuba Campaign for a fundraiser screening of in Cuba: An African Odyssey in solidarity with Cuba and in honor of Juneteenth 6-9pm June 19 at Starr Bar! This epic documentary uses archival footage and first person interviews with participants to tell the story of Operation Carlota, when Cuba sent military assistance to the Angolan independence movement and helped to bring about independence and the beginning of the end of apartheid in South Africa. The film chronicles several of revolutionary Cuba’s engagements with African independence movements.
