Hootenannies
are participatory musical gatherings rooted in the 1940s Greenwich
Village folk scene, where left-wing musicians like Pete Seeger and Woody
Guthrie hosted collective singing parties blending music, storytelling,
and politics. Even through the Red Scare, these gatherings sustained
protest culture. Sing in Solidarity proudly carries that revolutionary
tradition forward today.
