Confronting Anti-Blackness in Our Hindu Communities

Sadhana: Coalition of Progressive Hindus

Date: Jul 09th

Sadhana Satsanghs are our monthly inclusive, egalitarian and earth-honoring worship gatherings. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, we feel it is important to nurture both the spirit and the bodies of our members by performing biweekly e-Satsanghs on Thursdays via Zoom.
Over the past few weeks, we have held Satsanghs on the topics of police brutality and protesting. In this Satsangh, we will be taking a more introspective approach to discuss the ways we can actively dismantle anti-Blackness in our own South Asian and/or Indo-Caribbean Hindu communities.
Sadhana's Pandita-in-Residence, Pratima Doobay, will bring us together with a short prayer. We will then have a group discussion moderated by Linda Cheriyan, Director of Operations for Black Lives Matter of Greater New York, and Sadhana co-founder Aminta Kilawan-Narine.
All donations for this week's Satsangh will go towards the Okra Project, "a collective that seeks to address the global crisis faced by Black Trans people by bringing home-cooked, healthy, and culturally specific meals and resources to Black Trans People in New Jersey, Philadelphia, and New York."
