ABNYChats: Talking New York City Planning And Housing

Association for a Better New York

Date: Feb 09th

Please join us on Thursday, February 9 at 1:00 p.m. for an ABNY Chats with City Planning Chair Dan Garodnick and John Sanchez, Executive Director of the 5 Borough Housing Movement, to discuss the future of housing in New York City.

Mr. Garodnick will present Mayor Adams’ vision for a more inclusive, equitable “City of Yes” and the administration’s proposal to convert unused office space into new apartments for New Yorkers. The recommendations include a goal of relaxing residential conversion regulations for office buildings constructed through 1990, which would allow for easier conversion of offices built between the 1960s and 1980s.

Immediately following Chairman Garodnick’s presentation, he will be joined by 5 Borough Housing Movement Executive Director John Sanchez for a “fireside chat” on the plan’s outcome for a more fair and equitable city.

The 5 Borough Housing Movement is a coalition focused on expanding the supply of affordable housing at a time when the City faces a dire housing crisis by advocating for:

Enabling Office-to-Residential Conversions;
Lifting the Floor Area Ratio (FAR) Cap; and
Helping New Conversions to Deliver Affordable Housing.
*Please note, space is limited and confirmations will be made upon RSVP.
